Anitra Nelson

An interdisciplinary researcher and teacher in the social sciences, specifically community-based sustainability, environmental justice and housing studies, Anitra researches in the Centre for Urban Research of the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies at RMIT University. Anitra has an Advanced Diploma of Professional Screenwriting (RMIT) — winning awards for her short film, Mercury Stole My Fire (2005). Co-editor of Life Without Money: Building Fair and Sustainable Economies (2011, Pluto Press, London), editor of Steering Sustainability in an Urbanizing World: Policy, Practice and Performance and author of Marx's Concept of Money: The God of Commodities, Anitra was a Visiting Scholar in the Economics Department of the New School for Social Research in New York in the first half of 2012.
