Michael L'Estrange said the Prime Minister pointed out yesterday a new super Home Affairs ministry had been considered at various times before by government.
But he told RN Breakfast, 'I am not privy to the deliberations on a Home Affairs portfolio'.
He said, however, given his recommendations for enhanced intelligence sharing, "there is a logic to it (the new Home Affairs ministry)".
He said intelligence assessment needs more 'contestability'.
He recommended a boost to analyst strength, with extra expertise being made available to agencies beyond government in academia and business.
