Where do leaders come from?

This paper sets out a refined approach to guide the next phase of in-depth research. It argues that future research on developmental leadership can usefully adopt a leader-centred approach.

How is leadership understood in different contexts?

This paper develops a basis for thinking about how followers form perceptions of leaders, the affect this can have on leadership practices, and why this matters for development. It identifies several key areas as important influences on how followers understand leadership.
