The purpose of this interim report is to detail the concerns that the Senate Standing Committee on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport has with the Murray-Darling Basin Authority's Proposed Basin Plan (the Basin Plan).

The Murray-Darling Basin Authority has released the revised Basin Plan to ministers as part of the next step in the process of developing a plan for the Murray–Darling Basin. The MDBA also released a report detailing the changes that have been made to the draft based on submissions received during the consultation period.

This document has been written to allow the draft Basin Plan to be assessed as to whether it will protect the essential attributes of this internationally important wetlands.
