This report presents an overview of the social and economic costs and harms of alcohol consumption in the Northern Territory (NT). Using data gathered from 2015-16, the report provides a current evidence-based account of alcohol consumption in the territory.

This report confirms alcohol-related harm is hurting the Territory both socially and economically and there is a need to continue with the evidence-based approach to tackling it.

The Northern Territory government is delivering broad alcohol reforms that aim to reduce the demand, supply and harm caused by alcohol across the Territory. It is anticipated that the initiatives targeting alcohol misuse will reduce population levels of consumption, and will contribute to reducing the incidence of FASD in the community.
