Australia is endowed with rich economic geology, and is an acknowledged leader in mineral production, in minerals governance, and in garnering broad economic benefits from its large mining and processing sector. This report is intended to provide the government with a road map to ‘step up’ to (re)activate Australia’s mineral leadership.

This report brings to light major industry opportunities for Australia in the global clean energy sector, based on a synthesis of existing studies and targeted interviews.

This study compares manufacturing costs in China and Australia for current state-of-the-art technology, and explores ways of overcoming cost gaps in each manufacturing stage. It also presents a roadmap for developing a PV manufacturing value chain in Australia over time, along with policy levers which can be used to facilitate it.

This report, in partnership with SEGRO, looks at the sectors that hold significant potential for growing the UK economy (e.g. digital, advanced manufacturing, life sciences) as well as those with a large footprint (e.g. logistics) where new technology can have a large positive impact.

A key recommendation from this inquiry is for the Australian government establish a federal-level National Advanced Manufacturing Commissioner to facilitate nationwide advanced manufacturing policy and program coordination.
