An extensive consultation program took place in 2016 and 2017 for the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project’s 22.5 hectares of new open space. This report outlines the key feedback, ideas and recommendations from the Community Open Space Expert Panel (COSEP). The COSEP Terms of Reference required that a consolidated report capturing members’ comments, their feedback, deliberations and advice be compiled by and approved by the Chair for submission to the Minister for Public Transport. This report fulfils this requirement. There are nine key themes: trees and vegetation, shared use path/ connectivity, creative strategy, place-making (stories, character, identity and heritage), maintenance, car parking, station precincts, community spaces and crime prevention/safety. A separate report has been developed which outlines the broader consultation program conducted by the Level Crossing Removal Authority. This report also outlines how the feedback from COSEP and the broader community has been integrated into the open space design.
