Overall, telecom remains the sector’s largest market segment, taking in 32.5 percent of the sector’s total revenues, and making up 43 percent of its enterprise value. Its robust growth in 2011 was helped considerably by continued growth in emerging markets, which now provide a quarter of the segment’s total revenues.
On the other hand, the electronic product segments—both components and end products—have suffered the most over the past five years, thanks largely to the economic crisis, though the components segment has since returned to strong growth. Together, they brought in 42 percent of the sector’s revenues last year, yet their combined enterprise value makes up just 30 percent of the sector’s total.
