Description

This report presents insights into the usage of a kerbside charging network in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Australia. It identifies essential features required to make high quality charging sites, as well as higher power (30-50kW DC) charging with short duration dedicated parking spaces that deliver five times more energy than more common slower (7-11kW AC) charging.

It finds that a third of charging demand currently occurs during evening peak grid period. Efforts will need to be made to reduce this portion to avoid exacerbating costly stresses and upgrades of the electricity system.
