This report examines the post-farm gate manufacturing side of food production and the opportunities for expanding innovation and adding value. It presents 23 recommendations to support the Australian food and beverage manufacturing sector.

A key recommendation from this inquiry is for the Australian government establish a federal-level National Advanced Manufacturing Commissioner to facilitate nationwide advanced manufacturing policy and program coordination.

This inquiry report finds that while Australia has some manufacturing and technological capabilities that can contribute to the space sector, this will need to be more strategically developed and grown to sustain an industry.

Australians generate 2.7 tonnes of waste - per person, per year. Approximately, 40% of this waste ends up in landfill. This report addresses this dilemma in some way, recommending that the rubbish we create must be effectively, efficiently and sustainably dealt with.

This report calls for government action to stem rampant casualisation of full-time mining jobs in order to improve the industry’s social and economic return to the regional communities that support it.
