Perth Casino Royal Commission

On 5 March 2021, the Honourable Neville Owen (AO), the Honourable Lindy Jenkins and Mr Colin Murphy (PSM), were appointed Royal Commissioners to inquire into the suitability of Crown Perth to continue holding a casino gaming licence pursuant to the Terms of Reference.
The Commissioners examined Western Australia's regulatory framework, including any actual or perceived conflicts of interest by officers involved in casino regulation, and any matters that might enhance the Gaming and Wagering Commission's future capability and effectiveness. The Commission delivered its final report to the Government of Western Australia on 4 March 2022. The report was tabled in State Parliament on 24 March 2022.

Perth Casino Royal Commission: final report
The Perth Casino Royal Commission's final report finds that Crown Resorts are unfit to operate the casino in Perth. However, the Commission stopped short of calling for Crown to be stripped of its licence, saying the operators should undertake remediation work to become 'suitable', and has called for an independent monitor to be established.
