This paper analyses the strategies used in Australia and Canada to foster a national film industry in this era of international media conglomerates that comprises 'Global Hollywood'. It examines some economic, industrial and cultural strategies in the Canadian and Australian national film industries and how they have developed in reaction to Hollywood's influences.
