In 2017, an estimated 201 million people in 134 countries used the services of humanitarian agencies. This assistance is currently energy- and resource-intensive. Using examples from agencies in Burkina Faso, Jordan and Kenya as case studies, this paper argues that agencies could save by transitioning to clean energy sources.
