This paper reports on discussions with people with disability about the ethical implications of artificial intelligence and automated decision-making (ADM). It finds that participants were concerned about how ADM systems affect self-determination, caring relationships and identity recognition, as well as the political-economic drivers of automation.

Recent developments involving algorithmic technologies have raised concerns over the NDIS and its ability to uphold its promise of personalised support. This submission highlights these concerns, outlines the challenges posed by algorithmic decision-making, and proposes steps towards a more inclusive and equitable NDIS.

Persons with disabilities are more likely to be badly affected by disasters and be left behind in their wake. This panel discusses the importance of mainstreaming inclusive responses to ensure that disaster preparedness and responses ensure safety, security and rights for all.
