This paper describes current efforts towards building a framework that extends the functionality of an Open Access Repository by implementing processes to incorporate the ongoing trends in social media into the context of a digital collection.

The digital preservation ecology is rich with many initiatives and significant contributors. Rather than making broad generalisations, this paper aims to provide a snapshot of what is going through the minds of a selected group of individuals with expertise and responsibility in the related program areas.

This report articulates a conceptual and technical framework in which current efforts to preserve email can operate not as competing solutions, but as elements of an interoperable toolkit, and identifies missing elements and areas for additional community growth.

This article examines what it might mean to treat digitized and born digital collections as data, rather than simple surrogates of physical objects or static representations of digital experience.
