Twenty-five years has passed since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody (RCIADIC). This paper examines the trends and characteristics of Indigenous deaths in custody since 1991–92, using data obtained through the National Deaths in Custody Program (NDICP).

This report contains detailed information on deaths in both prison and police custody and custody-related operations in 2016–17, and compares these findings to longer term trends.
