The main goal of this project is to examine and assess how digital preservation and curation systems are developed, deployed and sustained. The authors compare the business approaches of not-for-profit and commercial initiatives, including their long-term strategic planning, governance models, usability studies, market research, risk assessment and mitigation, system renewal and agility.

This report describes preservation activities, methods and context for the 'Enhancing Services to Preserve New Forms of Scholarship' project. Digital preservation institutions, libraries and university presses examined a variety of enhanced digital publications and identified which features can be preserved at scale using tools currently available.

The purpose of the survey was to provide an updated and comprehensive picture of digital preservation activities in Canada and to identify existing gaps and outstanding needs at Canadian institutions.

The digital preservation ecology is rich with many initiatives and significant contributors. Rather than making broad generalisations, this paper aims to provide a snapshot of what is going through the minds of a selected group of individuals with expertise and responsibility in the related program areas.

This report articulates a conceptual and technical framework in which current efforts to preserve email can operate not as competing solutions, but as elements of an interoperable toolkit, and identifies missing elements and areas for additional community growth.
