Research examining restorative justice (RJ) for domestic and family violence (DFV) and sexual violence is growing. However, there has been little empirical examination of the perspectives of victim-survivors on best practice. This study addresses this gap drawing on victim-survivor participants in an Australian RJ program.

This paper presents results from an Australian study that investigated the perspectives of victim-survivors about post-custodial measures for people with convictions for sexual offending (PCSOs). It addressed victim-survivors’ reasons for supporting or opposing a wide range of PCSO post-custodial measures. The study emphasises the importance of considering victim-survivor perspectives in shaping post-custodial interventions for PCSOs.

This guide reflects the perspectives of more than 100 victims and survivors of child sexual abuse, who identified terms that reduce harm and support recovery and those that should be avoided. It is designed for anyone working in child protection, policy, practice, education, healthcare, research, justice or communications.

Ensuring justice for victim-survivors of sexual violence requires a holistic, well-funded response. While the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) report focuses on improving police reporting and criminal justice responses, a critical gap remains: the majority of victim-survivors do not report to police. This report presents a costed implementation strategy to address this gap.
