Report 21 analysed sampling of Australia’s drug consumption from a full year, August 2022 to August 2023. This occurred across capital city and regional sites, covering 57% of the population.

Report 20 covered sampling in April and June 2023. A population of about 14 million Australians, equating to approximately 55% of our country’s population was sampled.

Report 19 of the National Wastewater Drug Monitoring Program covered sampling in December 2022 and February 2023. In December, 57 wastewater sites were monitored nationally, covering a population of 13.9 million Australians.

This report establishes the prevalence of potentially harmless substances in recycled waters, which will form the basis of starting to close the gap setting ecological, human health and recycled water-specific guidelines for many of these chemicals.
