CAUL and the AOASG have released this joint statement about the importance of Open Scholarship. The statement responds to recommendations in the Australian Government Funding Arrangements for non-NHMRC Research report recently released by the Standing Committee on Employment, Education and Training.

In 2016, the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) began offering postdoctoral fellowships in software curation. Four institutions hosted the initial cohort of software curation fellows. This article describes the work activities and research program of the cohort, highlighting the challenges and benefits of doing this exploratory work in research libraries.

As libraries move away from a collections model in which libraries measure their success by how large their collections are, this report puts a framework around library services, explores emerging patterns in different institutional settings, and gauges the importance of these services areas—now and for the future—according to surveyed library directors.

In order to explain the concept of copyright literacy, its importance within the broader work of libraries and to make recommendations to key stakeholders, IFLA has published this statement on copyright education and copyright literacy.

In this submission, IFLA underlines the need for flexible exceptions and thus welcomed the introduction of a fair use exception, and alternatively an extended fair dealing exception that among its purposes recognised “library and archive use”, “certain educational uses” and “text and data mining”, among others.
