Description
This issues and options paper forms part of the Council’s review of restitution and compensation orders in Victoria.
It discusses the current system of restitution and compensation both in Victoria and in other Australian and overseas jurisdictions, and looks at possible options for reform, including whether restitution and compensation orders should become sentencing orders and whether the purposes of sentencing should incorporate the financial compensation of victims.
