Open government: ideals and realities of 2.0

Publisher
Open government
Description

A conversation about 'open government' in light of the recent report of the Government 2.0 Taskforce.

The report says that by using the collaborative tools of the internet (Web 2.0) government will be more democratic, participatory and informed, government policy more relevant and public servants more engaged. It would unlock vast amounts of information held by governments. The benefits are many but there are political and practical impediments.

Guests:

Nicholas Gruen
Chief Executive, Lateral Economics; Chair of the Government 2.0 Taskforce.

Andrew Podger
National President of the Institute of Public Administration Australia; Australian Public Service Commissioner, 2001-2004.

David Moore
Owner of political & community relations consultancy, The Next Level; Chief of Staff to the former federal Indigenous Affairs Minister, Mal Brough
