Description
This report presents details of an evaluation focused on the trial of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family-Led Decision Making across four sites in Queensland between 18 April 2016 and 30 June 2017.
The trial demonstrated that when given the opportunity, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities can have a culturally safe response to child safety. It argues that when safe spaces are created, the strength of the collectivist culture will ensure that children and young people have their family and community leading decisions about their safety and wellbeing that are focused on their connection to culture and family.
