Does process matter? Experimental evidence that policy makers should advertise process as well as outcomes

Publisher
Policy failure Policy analysis Public policy implementation Australia
Description

This paper summarises the findings of a recent academic article published by the authors. Using a unique survey experiment, they found that the process by which a policy is developed is an important factor in citizens’ judgement of the policy outcome. Their findings suggest that policymakers need to emphasise process when designing policy and communicate aspects of the policy process to the public.
