Civility, sexism and democracy


Journalist Anne Summers has called for the community to reject the abuse and sexist attacks against the Prime Minister. Natasha Mitchell in Life Matters discusses this further.

In a lecture at the University of Newcastle she argues that this sexual harassment would be challenged in any other workplace and that parliamentarians should speak out against it. But is this intolerant and abusive tone only about gender or, more broadly, a symptom of the current political environment?
