Description
This fact sheet introduces the safety and quality issues that impact people with intellectual disability when they are accessing health care. It is part of a series of fact sheets for health service organisations. The aim of the fact sheets is to support improvement in the quality of health care for people with intellectual disability.
This fact sheet complements those already available on person-centred care, comprehensive care and governance. These three fact sheets cover the safety and quality issues in more detail, encourage reflective practice and suggest strategies, providing examples of good practice and helpful resources to better respond to the needs of people with intellectual disability.
