Description
The humble light-bulb has now entered the ‘smart’ technology zone. Australian inventor Phil Bosua has created a screw-in LED bulb that’s also a Wi-Fi enabled computer. His device could do for lighting what the smart-phone did for the mobile.
And he’s not alone in his efforts to reinvent and re-interpret artificial illumination. Welcome to the age of personalised, hyper-connected lighting.
Guests:
- Phil Bosua, Co-founder and CEO of LIFX.
- Dr David DiLaura, Author of “A History of Light and Lighting” and Principal Illuminating Engineer at Acuity Brands.
- Dr Wendy Davis, Program Director, Illumination Design, Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Sydney.
- Dr Robert Karlicek, Professor and Director of the Smart Lighting Engineering Research Centre at the New York-based Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
