The Department of Justice has conducted an extensive review of sexual offences in Victoria, and prepared a consultation paper which identifies and analyses the main problems with sexual offence laws.
The consultation paper presents proposals for improving the clarity and effectiveness of these laws, and asks questions about how best to deal with certain aspects of the law.
The department has also prepared a summary paper which focuses on the law of rape and provides a short summary of the options for reform, Rape law in Victoria: a summary paper on options for reform.
The consultation paper and summary paper have been prepared to enable the Victorian community to have its say in how to improve Victoria’s sexual offence laws.
