Rapid review of Victoria’s firearms laws: final report


This rapid review of Victoria’s Firearms Laws was conducted in accordance with its Terms of Reference that required reforms that protect all Victorians, while recognising the legitimate need for some sectors of the community to possess, carry and use firearms. This report presents the findings and recommendations of this review. It made 16 recommendations.

The social costs of gambling to Victoria, 2023

The study adopted a public health approach, examining tangible and intangible costs associated with gambling problems in all gambling forms in Victoria. The study sought to quantify the cost of gambling harm to Victoria in financial terms. The total cost of gambling to Victoria in 2022-23 was estimated to be $14.1 billion.

This strategy was developed and led from the outset by the Aboriginal Justice Caucus. This process commenced with a planning workshop in 2018 where the Caucus outlined their aspirations for, and approach to, creating Victoria’s first Aboriginal youth justice strategy.

In February 2020, the Victorian Minister for Gaming and Liquor Regulation released this evaluation report on 'YourPlay', accepting all 23 recommendations to strengthen Victoria’s voluntary pre-commitment scheme.
