We are in the midst of an energy revolution - gas - and it’s important that we get it right so there’s enough for both the home market and the export market, that the price is competitive and that it’s not too much of a strain on our environment.
Australia is on track to being the world's biggest gas exporter with a potential with of $53 billion a year but how do we get to that point? We are still experiencing infrastructure issues especially in the short term and there are still environmental issues, especially in New South Wales, that need to be solved.
The International Energy Agency has described the next decade as the 'golden age of gas' so it's important that with our vast reserves of gas we can reap the commercial benefits but still create an affordable, reliable and sustainable energy sector.
