The AIHW's report Australia's Welfare 2003 presented a set of broad summary indicators of the welfare of Australia's population, assembling indicators and data from authoritative Australian literature and statistical publications. This working paper presents the background research on which that material was based, together with more detailed information on the development of the conceptual framework and indicators, and some additional indicators and data.
