Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System
Owning Institution:
In February 2019, the Victorian government released the Commission's Terms of Reference. The government appointed Penny Armytage AM as the Chair of the Royal Commission, along with Dr Alex Cockram, Professor Allan Fels AO and Professor Bernadette McSherry as Commissioners.
The Commission delivered its final report to government on 3 February 2021, and it was tabled in the Victorian Parliament on 2 March 2021.

In this final report, the Royal Commission has set out an ambitious reform agenda to redesign Victoria’s mental health and wellbeing system. Achieving the vision will require a collaborative and collective effort, and shared responsibility across governments, service providers, community groups, advocates, people with lived experience of mental illness, families, carers and supporters.
