This review of the final report of the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability, focusses on the recommendations that have a direct impact on the lives of the more than one million people with physical disability in New South Wales.

This report of an online survey on the experiences of people with disability using taxi services provides clear evidence that the point-to-point transport network is not meeting the needs of its users, and that industry practices are in fact, are actively discouraging people with disability from using taxis and participating in society.

This report provides a snapshot of what is a much larger issue in realising best practice, person-centred care in hospitals. It indicates that more can be done to realise person-centred care, especially for patients with complex healthcare needs.
