The purpose of this Inquiry is to investigate the legislative and regulatory framework for workplace drug testing, including the treatment of prescription medicinal cannabis compared to other prescription medications. The Committee aimed to understand whether the framework can be improved and whether current workplace drug testing laws and procedures are discriminatory.

This report follows an inquiry into the state’s preparedness for and response to Victoria’s major flooding event of October 2022. The report makes findings on Victoria’s flood governance arrangements, planning and flood risk, mitigation infrastructure, emergency warnings, community recovery and resourcing and response of the Victoria State Emergency Service.

This inquiry specifically focused on vulnerable road users—those who are the least protected and most at risk on the road—such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. In 2023, they made up 36% of all lives lost on Victorian roads, and in 2022 they made up almost half (47%).

The key focus of this report is the processes surrounding the bid for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in regional Victoria and their subsequent cancellation. This interim report covers evidence the Committee has received so far, including details of barriers faced by the Committee when attempting to seek evidence from the Victorian government.

In this report, the Committee proposes the need for a national approach to addressing the rental and housing affordability crisis. It emphasises the importance of Victoria working with the Commonwealth Government to clarify the aim of housing policies.
