This policy discussion paper considers elder abuse, mental health and wellbeing in the context of the Victorian Government decision to undergo system-wide reform by enacting all recommendations made by the Royal Commission into the Victorian Mental Health System.

With funding from the State Trustees Australia Foundation, in collaboration with Senior’s Rights Victoria, NARI researchers analysed seven years of data to better understand elder abuse in Victoria. This report presents the research findings.

The aim of this scoping study is to consider how elder abuse is conceptualised across different dimensions and settings, what mechanisms and interventions have been used to ameliorate abuse, and how effective these interventions have been.
