The insights and data shared in this report were collected across a range of activities facilitated by Health Justice Australia throughout 2020. The report draws on the insights of health and legal assistance services and practitioners and their representative bodies, including those working in health justice partnership and from their services more broadly.

This paper explores what takes a health justice partnership beyond ‘status quo’ services in terms of purpose, structure, activity and resourcing, and notes points of difference with other service models on the health justice landscape.

While the 2015-16 Budget delivered welcome new investment in early childhood education and care and charted a fairer path on pension reform, the combined effect of the two budgets is to leave people on low incomes to once again bear the burden of Budget restraint.
