The barometer is a survey of more than 520 young Australians aged 18–24 about their experiences with the economy, work, education, health and wellbeing, relationships and participation in civic life. Themes included the impact of technology, feelings of belonging and exclusion, financial security and the need for governments to offer more support.

The fourth annual Australian Youth Barometer surveyed over 620 young Australians about their experiences with the economy, work, education, health and wellbeing, relationships and participation in civic life. The report illustrates the challenges faced by today's youth and identifies a growing sense that the government is failing to address their biggest concerns.

This report draws on three years of data from the Australian Youth Barometer to highlight the experiences of young people in New South Wales and Victoria. It covers issues of young people's mental health, relationships, finances, housing, work and education.

The Australian Youth Barometer gauges the pressures currently experienced by young Australians. For this third edition of the Australian Youth Barometer, researchers surveyed over 500 young Australians aged 18 to 24, and interviewed another thirty, on a range of topics including the economy and work, education, health and wellbeing, relationships and civic participation.
