This report draws together research from international academics and policy-makers on the impact of childhood inequalities on life outcomes across a broad range of topics including education, crime and well-being.

This study examines the relationship between natural hazard-related disasters, including those influenced by climate change, and child and adolescent poverty. It brings together new ways of looking at this nexus through a lifecycle approach, which focuses both on the incidence of child poverty and longer-term poverty and wellbeing.

This report, based on longitudinal data, analyses the level of deprivation and wellbeing experienced by Australian children, with particular reference to those living with disability, those living in monetary poverty, and those living in jobless families.

This report is the first of its kind to apply the deprivation approach to examine deprivation among young Australians using information provided by young people themselves. It builds on earlier projects that developed and applied the approach used here to adults.

The key purpose of this report is to help construct narratives that are more effective in promoting policy change. The report presents alternative frames and stories to tell, ones that will help the public and policy makers act on the expert solutions that are needed to ensure all children and families thrive.
