This Inquiry discovered that current regulatory frameworks are no longer fit for purpose and lag behind consumer trends and global developments. This report recommends, at its centrepiece, the establishment of a Victorian nicotine licensing scheme and active regulatory authority, sitting within the Department of Justice and Community Safety.

Adolescent lifestyle behaviour modification and mental health

This study examines longitudinal behaviour change of adolescents in six key lifestyle behaviours – sleep, physical activity (PA), sedentary recreational screen time, diet, alcohol use, and tobacco use – and associations with mental health. The results highlight the potential benefits of behaviour modification to reduce the progression of psychological distress in adolescence.

Associations between vaping, mental health and risky health behaviours over time in Australian men

Vaping is a significant public health concern, due to its association with other risky health behaviours. This research summary highlights that men who engage in risky behaviours (illicit drug use, heavy drinking, gambling or smoking) are more likely to engage in vaping. Interventions that successfully reduce these risky behaviours may also reduce vaping.
