This report provides estimated numbers and demographic characteristics of the Stolen Generations survivors aged 50 and over in 2014–15. It presents data on a range of health and socioeconomic outcomes, and analysis of differences with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander comparison group to examine the effects of removal from families.

Organisations The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA), and The Aboriginal Peak Organisations Northern Territory (APO NT), have come together to develop this report to ensure that the perspectives and circumstances of Aboriginal Children in the Northern Territory are given the attention they demand in the Committee’s next set of concluding observations to Australia.

In June 2018, the Centre of Best Practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention facilitated a workshop to investigate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lived experiences of suicide. The aims of the workshop were to ensure the meaningful inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in an overall Lived Experience Project.

Data on the prevalence of disability in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations is an essential component of effective disability policy, planning and implementation.
