This report presents highlights from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare’s 17th biennial report on the nation’s health. It tells the story of health in Australia, with key findings on our health status, health system, and health disparities across some population groups.

This publication helps organisations, teams and partnerships to know if they have what they need in place to evaluate their work and know if their work is making a difference.

This report was commissioned by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as part of the evaluation of CQC’s five-year strategy, and aims to provide an in-depth assessment of the relationship between CQC’s regulatory approach, and improvement in quality of health and social care.

This study responds to a need to identify strategies and practical actions to support culturally safe evaluation in Indigenous settings in Australia and New Zealand.

Australia’s Health Tracker 2019 continues the work of a national collaboration of public health and chronic disease organisations and experts that began in 2015 and produced health targets to support, guide and track progress towards a substantial change in the health of our nation. This report card is the second edition reporting against those targets.
