Parenthood can be both a rewarding and challenging experience for new and expecting parents. During this time of transition, experiences of mental ill-health are common. This paper argues that stronger collaborative care and referral pathways are needed across perinatal and youth mental health systems to better support young parents.

This report evaluates the extent to which states and territories collected and provided data to the AIHW National Perinatal Data Collection in accordance with the Perinatal National Minimum Data Set Specifications. A total of 35 data elements were evaluated between 2010 to 2015.
