As the boundaries of our cities expand, many new suburbs are being developed near nationally listed threatened ecological communities and threatened species habitat. This study uses semi-structured in-depth interviews (n=35) and focus groups (n=2) to ask urban practitioners about their experiences with greenfield development in Gungahlin and the Molonglo Valley in the ACT.

Drawing on classical ecological theory, this study assesses the factors which influence invertebrate diversity and composition on bare and green roofs in urban Sydney.

This paper will explore the potential of design for cross-species cohabitation, how this potential could be developed and why it is of significant value to our urban environments and wellbeing.
