This report found that Aboriginal communities want to see significant improvement in the frequency, quality and evaluation of programs to protect and promote Aboriginal cultural rights, and calls on the Victorian Department of Justice and Regulation to develop a social and emotional well-being strategy for Koori children in custody.

This report examines the overlap between alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment services and youth justice supervision from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2016. The research found that about 1 in 3 young people under youth justice supervision accessed an AOD treatment service.

Currently, little information exists at the national level about the health of young people under youth justice supervision in Australia. This feasibility report outlines how this critical data gap might be addressed into the future through the use of currently available data and data linkage.
