This report has been prepared for the Australia Institute to provide advice to the Energy Security Board’s Post-2025 redesign of the National Electricity Market (NEM).

This fourth report from the Australian Energy Security Board provides an annual check-up recommended by the Finkel Review. The report is an assessment of how the National Electricity Market (NEM) is functioning and where improvement is required.

In September 2020, the Energy Security Board released a consultation paper that outlined reform options under consideration as part of the Post-2025 market design project. This paper provides a high-level summary of stakeholder feedback and sets out the consolidated reform directions the ESB proposes to pursue as part of the Post-2025 project.

Replacing these energy sources and building the infrastructure needed to connect them to homes and businesses will take years. This document outlines a coordinated framework to deliver a modern electricity system for NSW.
