The Queensland government has asked the Commission to undertake an inquiry to determine how government resources and policies may be best used to reduce imprisonment and recidivism to improve outcomes for the community.

This paper collates recent statistical information on crime rates, victims, offenders, policing, juvenile justice, criminal courts and corrections in New South Wales. It is designed to provide an evidence base to inform public discussion and policy development.

This audit examined whether Victoria Police has a control framework for property management that supports high performance and whether it prioritises and sustains improvement projects. It also examined whether Victoria Police stores and secures property in a way that supports frontline staff, reduces associated risks such as OHS risks, and maintains evidentiary value.

This report urges governments to conduct a review of law and policy to determine where people with FASD are excluded, and to work together with medical professionals and advocates for people with FASD and other forms of cognitive impairment, to develop a more inclusive definition of cognitive impairment for use in law and policy.

This research shows that a disproportionate number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people are named on DVOs, charged with contraventions of DVOs and significantly more likely than non-Indigenous people to receive a sentence of imprisonment for a contravention of a DVO, compared to non-Indigenous people.
