This report presents updated information on ear and hearing health outreach services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people aged under 21 in the Northern Territory, between July 2012 and December 2017. These services were funded by the Australian government and delivered by the Northern Territory government.

The main purpose of this discussion paper is to consider how the Territory’s financial assistance scheme can be improved to better support victims of violent crimes. The paper also looks at other potential reforms for victims, including the possibility of introducing victim-offender conferencing for adult offenders in the Territory.

This strategy document provides the framework to improve the lives of children and young Territorians from 0-24 years of age. The integration of services, such as housing, education, youth justice and child protection, are all addressed in the plan.

Aboriginal rangers, their communities and the CLC believe the benefits of their work extends far beyond the obvious environmental outcomes. Ranger employment also creates significant social, cultural and economic benefits.

Improved energy performance of buildings presents a win-win-win opportunity, reducing stress on the electricity network, offering bill savings, supporting a least-cost pathway to a zero carbon built environment, and improving health and resilience outcomes for households and businesses.
