Over the past year, the number of broadband subscribers in the OECD increased 26 per cent from 157 million in December 2005 to 197 million in December 2006. This growth increased broadband penetration rates in the OECD from 13.5 in December 2005 to 16.9 subscriptions per 100 inhabitants one year later.

Overview of the gender distribution of ICT and ICT-related employment in OECD countries


This analysis argues that for both equity and efficiency reasons gender differences in ICT occupations, education, access and use need to be addressed, and that more detailed, analytical work on the evolution of ICT occupations, education and use should be undertaken and the effects of policy on women and ICTs analysed in detail.
