Description
This publication provides information on revenue, expenditure, assets and liabilities of government vocational education and training (VET) in Australia. The publication is based on 2017 data provided by the Australian, state and territory government departments responsible for administering government funds for Australia’s VET system.
Highlights:
This publication provides financial information on the government VET system in Australia. Reporting includes VET financial activity transacted through government accounts of the Australian and state and territory government departments and their controlled training organisation entities such as TAFE institutes and colleges.
In 2017, compared with 2016:
- operating revenues for the government VET system were $7496.9 million, a decrease in nominal terms of $676.2 million (8.3%)
- revenue from the Australian Government decreased by $743.0 million (22.2%), largely reflecting the closure of the VET FEE-HELP scheme
- revenue from state and territory governments increased by $247.9 million (8.6%)
- revenue from fee-for-service activities decreased by $158.3 million (13.7%)
- total operating expenditures were $7518.5 million, an increase of $447.2 million (6.3%).
