Description

The Royal Commission made 409 recommendations in its final report to better protect children from institutional child sexual abuse, with 206 of these directed wholly or partially at the Australian Government. Of these, the Australian Government has responded to the 84 recommendations about redress by establishing the National Redress Scheme. The government continues to make progress on another 122 recommendations, as well as playing a role in more than 50 recommendations for the states and territories.

This is the Australian Government’s third annual progress report. It shows the Australian Government’s progress over the last 12 months on implementing the Royal Commission’s recommendations. This report is structured in the same way as the first and second annual progress reports.

It reports on:

  • the 84 recommendations that deal with redress
  • the other 122 recommendations the Australian Government has whole or partial responsibility for
  • a number of other recommendations the Australian Government is working on with the states and territories
